How Our Design-to-Build Service Works
Design-to-build projects often require a multitude of trades, with various steps and sequenced events that involve detailed scheduling and communication.
We do the work, keeping this process seamless and the project completion timeline on point.
Initial Site Visit
We begin with an initial on-site meeting. On this date we will take measurements and review the project site’s topography. Our approach is highly collaborative with our client’s custom project. Together, we discuss your goals, style and landscaping vision. We will establish the overall project scope, budget and propose a plan of action.
Design Phase
With an understanding of your vision, budget and existing site conditions, we will create a custom 3D/2D design rendering. Once we receive approval for the design and budget, we work toward a finalized plan and proposal for construction. The finalized landscape plan is then presented.
Install & Build Phase
Once the scope of your project is agreed upon, we begin securing materials, scheduling, planning and implementation of the construction process begins. We always keep you informed about your project’s progress. Our goal is to make the installation process exciting and pleasant.

- Spotlights – Also referred to as uplights, downlights directional lights or bullets. Spotlights are a versatile landscape light that can support a variety of bulbs, beam widths and wattages. Spotlights are commonly used for highlighting, silhouetting, shadowing, grazing, moonlighting, spotlighting and flood lighting.
- Flood Lights & Spot Lights - Add more security and light up your yard at night. Flood lights generally have a higher wattage and wider angle than spotlights. Flood lights are commonly used in 120 volt or for commercial projects.
- Well & In-Grade Lights – This type of lighting includes a fixture that is installed where the majority of the fixture is below ground level. Well and in-grade lights are commonly used for turf or hardscape areas.
- Step & Stair Lights – Steps and stairs are composed of treads (the horizontal flat pieces) and risers (the vertical pieces attached the backside of each tread). Treads may be illuminated by light fixtures mounted to the risers, or by light fixtures mounted to side walls.
- Garden Lights – Use of garden lights can illuminate your flowerbeds. The light shines downwards and slightly outwards to showcase your plants.
- Bollard Lights – Also referred to as post lights, bollard lights shine a ring of light in all directions from the top of a column or post.
- Path & Area Lights - Path lights aim the light down and to the side of the fixture, therefore lighting walkways and paths. Area lights also aim the light down, however the entire area around the fixture is also lighted. Area lights can be used to light pathways, yet they also work nicely to illuminate landscape and outdoor features you with to highlight.
- Wall Wash Lights – These are a type of flood light that are designed to provide illumination across a wide surface. They are used for areas that seek to fully illuminate the surface.
- String Lights – These lights are beautiful when string through trees and over hardscapes. String lights come in a wide range of styles, bulb types, and colors. They provide subtle illumination for a picturesque outdoor living area.
- Deck Lights – Because most decks are adjacent to railings, most deck lighting features are designed to attach to fence posts. Deck lights are also useful for mounting on the sides of additional stairs and structures.
- Hardscape Lights - Hardscaping refers to landscape features made of hard materials such as pavers, stones, bricks, or other hard materials. Common hardscapes include walkways, decks, patios, driveways, stairs, walls and outdoor kitchens or fireplaces. Many hardscaping light features attach to the underside of overhangs and capstones. Hardscape lighting can be well hidden and provides subtle floodlighting to surfaces.
